Fulfilling a destiny no greater than bacteria in a Petri dish. Inextricably tied to our humble beginnings as one-cell organisms without intelligence. We can't help ourselves but to consume all our resources and die in our own excrement, plastic water bottles, and CO2. It follows exactly the lifecycle of bacteria in a Petri dish. It must be "intelligent design."
Or maybe a lesson in the need to exercise true intelligence — which raises the philosophical question as to the nature of intelligence: being that, if in itself it is biological, then would it not also be subject to the nature in question, and unable to free us from our natural state? Biological, and thus subject to the same trap that does not allow human life to escape from the nature exhibited by one-cell organisms.
Have it a foundation beyond mere biology, and it could be the solution to the problem — and freedom from a destiny dictated by the most simple manifestation of genetics.
